Happy 2015 to all! With a new year freshly afoot, we here at MarMIA have decided to expand our geographic focus from the state of Maryland to the Middle Atlantic region of the United States of America. While this leaves less specific boundaries for our concentration, it is also more inclusive in scope (and square acreage). The moving image preservation needs of Maryland are the same as its surrounding area, and many times our culture and economies overlap and relate back to one-another. We all need more and better advocacy, resources, and access–hopefully MarMIA can address some of these needs for the Mid-Atlantic. So while we are keeping our acronym, we are now identifying ourselves as the Mid-Atlantic Regional Moving Image Archive. Here’s to the new year, and the new us!
