MARMIA’s collections include all types of unique audiovisual materials documenting the people, places, arts, and culture of the Mid-Atlantic region: home movies, mixtapes, local television, oral histories, found VHS-tapes, and more. Please search or browse descriptions of our collections through our ArchivesSpace finding aids (keep in mind that many include descriptions that were written by the creator, and may be inaccurate or use outdated and/or offensive language). If you would like to watch any of the items you find that have not yet been digitized, we require the item to be digitized. To request an item, please provide your contact information by clicking the “Request” button in ArchivesSpace and we will get back to you with a quote.
As a nonprofit with a mission dedicated to preservation and access of our region’s audiovisual materials, everything we digitize is available for free online. You can search timestamped audio transcripts and view our all of our digitized collections on Aviary. We highly encourage you to remix and reuse our collections! We allow free non-commercial use of material in which we own the rights, and we also license commercial use for a fee. Please contact avtech@marmia.org for more information.
