Amazingly, 2018 is nearing its end. Here at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Moving Image Archive, we have accomplished a lot this past year…but we have so much more to do! We desperately need your help to continue our 100% volunteer-run work of preserving the cultural heritage of the Mid-Atlantic through moving images.
There are 3 ways that you can help now or on November 27, Giving Tuesday (or Giving Newsday, as we like to call it). You could choose 1 or all 3. Every little bit helps!
  1. MARMIA has discovered recently that a large portion of our WJZ-TV Eyewitness News videos are recorded onto S-VHS (fancier than regular VHS) and recorded in Extended Play (EP), which means these tapes (at least a few hundred) need a a super fancy VCR to play them back and digitize them. We have launched a Facebook fundraiser to raise money towards this goal. Your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate $5 or $500. Take a look at this video to see what our current deck is making of these tapes.
  2. Become a MARMIA Member! Being able to count on regular monthly contributions, even just $5/month, is integral to making MARMIA grow in a responsible and sustainable way. Plus, you get some really cool perks from being a MARMIA Member! Learn more here–and thank you!
  3. Buy a TV Hill T-Shirt! We are partnering with Charm City Threads to offer this amazing unisex style T-shirt they designed of TV Hill in Baltimore. By purchasing, you will be supporting a local small business and non-profit at the same time: 50% of the sales from these shirts will be donated to MARMIA! Follow @charmcitythreads on Instagram or check back at their Etsy store–T-shirts should be available for purchase in time for December holidays! Screen Shot 2018-11-20 at 9.30.36 AM
Please assist us in closing out 2018 with an overwhelming success to set the path for an amazing 2019. Thank you again for supporting and caring about MARMIA and the media of the Mid-Atlantic!
