MARMIA has grown so much in the last 3 years–we had our first paid staff join us (more than one!) and now thanks to the Mellon Foundation we have the film scanner of our dreams! While we loved our previous office companions at Impact Hub Baltimore, you can see from the below photo that we were outgrowing our one small office.

An opportunity fell in our lap at the end of October to move to four times the space at Motor House, just down the street at the non-profit arts hub, gallery, and performance space that encourages new visions, bold experiments, and emerging voices to celebrate the artistry Baltimore City–a perfect fit for MARMIA! Now we have so much space, and not enough furniture to fill it! Check out our new spaces below.

Which is such a wonderful problem to have! But we need your help to fill our new office with tables and shelves that will enable us to do our work to preserve and provide access to the moving images and recorded sounds of the US Mid-Atlantic region. Plus, the move was expensive as we had to contract movers to help us safely transport our very important film scanner and other delicate equipment–and we had to paint some very yellow walls. As previous donations have shown us in the past, every size donation helps–if you can only give $5, that will mean the world to us and help us get closer to our goal. We know budgets can be tight this time of year, but if you feel moved to help us and can safely do so, please donate at our PayPal campaign (or mail a check to our new address at Motor House!) to help us do our important community-focused work. Thank you!
